Undergraduate Registered Nurse Placements

Kiara PatchingSt John of God Hospital Murdoch aims to support Undergraduate Nurses with learning opportunities in a supportive environment.

Around 500 Undergraduate Registered Nurses from Notre Dame, Curtin, Murdoch and Edith Cowan Universities attend this hospital every year for a clinical placement experience, as well as students from other tertiary institutes.

These Clinical placements provide an opportunity to consolidate the student’s theoretical knowledge and clinical skills as a novice practitioner. Clinical education and supervision may be facilitated in a number of ways. This may include a combination of university clinical teachers, ward based buddy system or ward based preceptors.

This support will provide the student with feedback on the development of their nursing knowledge and skills whilst in the practice setting.

Areas available for Clinical Placement include the Medical and Surgical wards as well as Specialty areas such as ICU, Emergency Department, Palliative Care and Operating Theatres.
