Supporting our community
In addition to our Social Outreach and
Advocacy services, St John of God Hospital Murdoch takes
opportunities to support the community in which we
operate.
Western Australian Citizen of the Year Awards
Our sponsorship of the Professions Award, a part of the Western
Australian Citizen of the Year Awards, is an appropriate fit for
the hospital. The dedication and commitment of the annual
award winner is similarly reflected in the care and service
provided to the local community by our dedicated health
professionals.
The Professions award recognises the exceptional achievements of
an individual engaged in excellence in a vocation requiring
advanced knowledge and learning.
Inaugurated in 1972, the Western Australian Citizen of the Year
Awards acknowledge the many remarkable individuals and
organisations that motivate and inspire others through their
vision, leadership and contribution, their exceptional talents,
skills and achievements.
Charity of the Year
Every year our caregivers and
volunteers raise money for our Charity of the Year. Last year we
raised more than $23,000 for St Patrick’s Community Support
Centre.
This year, St John of God Hospital
Murdoch has chosen St Patrick’s Community Support Centre as our
Charity of the Year for 2011/12.
The Passages Resource
Centre to be opened in the Peel region will provide the
marginalised and homeless young people (12 – 25 years) with a
“passage” to help the transition from one life to another.
The funds raised this year by the Charity of the Year program will
go towards the Passages Resource Centre and Food on Wheels project
both to be located in the Peel region.
