Admissions
Referrals
All referrals for admission should be directed to the Chief
Executive Officer.
For people with non-accident related disabilities an Independent
Needs Assessment for hospital level care is required. In
Christchurch this may be carried out by Lifelinks (Tel: 03 365 9593).
Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC)
case managers arrange assessments for those whose disability
results from an accident. Referrals can also be made by the
Canterbury District Health
Board.
Funding
For most people, a full subsidy covers the cost of care. This is
provided through contracts with either the Ministry of Health,
Accident Compensation Corporation or the Canterbury District Health
Board. There is no income or asset testing for people under 65
years with physical disabilities, but a contribution of part of the
Invalid Benefit may be required.
