Your rights and responsibilities

 

As a patient you have the right:

  • To participate in your own care
  • To be treated with care, professional competence, consideration and dignity
  • To be told the names of all the people involved in caring directly for you
  • To be aware of all costs involved in your treatment (please request to see the Patient Liaison Officer)
  • To have all your personal and medical details kept with full confidentiality
  • To consent to or refuse a treatment or a visitor
  • To receive current information concerning your treatment and progress and any options or alternatives available
  • To lodge a complaint about care or services (please request to see the Hospital Coordinator)

To enhance our capacity to care for you we need your:

  • Honesty about your medical history
  • Compliance with medical instructions designed to aid your recovery
  • Observation of relevant hospital policies
