Palliative Care
Our Palliative Care Service aims to offer
appropriate supports and measures to help ease the burden of life’s
demands during stressful and challenging times for people. A
multidisciplinary team approach involving a broad cross section of
caregivers is part of the inpatient service. A key part in
achieving the holistic and essential focus on continuity of care is
good collaboration between St John of God and - community based
services, internal and external carer support systems, and other
specialist palliative care providers.
Palliative Care at St John of God Geelong
seeks to:
- uphold and contribute to the Mission and
Values of St John of God
- reflect the compassion of Jesus Christ to a
suffering and vulnerable community in times of complex and serious
sickness
- and aims to meet social needs
In defining the St John of God mission, the
symbol of a pomegranate containing five seeds is
representative of the Values of how this Mission is
articulated.
Likewise Palliative Care has five domains of
focus which closely align and reflect similar values.
