Clinical risk

Risk exists in every aspect of our daily routine and operations. St John of God Geelong Hospital seeks to understand risk related to its operation and allow for reasonable action to be taken to make patient care as safe as possible. This proactive approach to risk management increases opportunities for improvement and the delivery of effective, safe, quality health care.

The most critical aspects of clinical risk management are:

  • timely reporting
  • monitoring and management of clinical incidents

The timely reporting allows us to commence an investigation, identify contributing factors, system issues or errors and allows for control measures to be put in place to minimise or prevent errors.
