Palliative Care
St John of God Hospital Bunbury's
palliative care services offer a purpose built Palliative Care Unit
for inpatient care, a community care
service, a Day Hospice program, and a program run in
conjunction with local nursing homes.
Bunbury’s 12-bed palliative care unit is the only
specialist unit in the south-west, providing care for both
privately and publicly funded patients.
Our Palliative Care Unit provides a supportive
environment where we care for for patients and their families
facing a life limiting illness and adopt a holistic approach to
caregiving, which respects the dignity and worth of
each person.
People are admitted to our inpatient unit for:
symptom management and review, respite care, psychological support
and terminal care.
A palliative care specialist visits
fortnightly as part of the unit's multidisciplinary team which is
supported by our award-winning team of volunteers.
