Pastoral Services
Pastoral Services are available upon request
for patients,
families
and friends regardless of religious or spiritual orientation.
Our Pastoral Practitioners are highly trained
in a range of counselling services. We can help you through
transitional periods such as a birth, sickness or bereavement, or
simply provide companionship and a listening ear. We can also
provide a welcome visit when you arrive at the hospital to help you
settle in and explain what we do. Our service is entirely
confidential and non-judgmental.
Please ask your nurse if you would like us to
visit you at your bedside or privately in the Pastoral Office.
We are available onsite Monday – Friday. For
after hours service contact Reception on 9709 1414
Chapel
Our Chapel is a quiet space available to use
day and night. You and your family are welcome to spend time here
for prayer, privacy or reflection.
We hold regular Mass, prayer services,
non-denominational services and memorial services. We also
celebrate significant religious occasions from multiple faith
groups.
You can also enjoy our memorial garden
and serenity garden located within the hospital grounds.

Links with community faith groups
St John of God Hospital Berwick is very active
in the local community, and we have well-established relationships
with a number of faiths and community groups.
We can contact your religious or faith group
on your behalf to alert them to your hospital stay and can work
with them in providing you with support services during and after
discharge from the hospital.
