Meet our executive team
The Chief Executive Officer / Director of Nursing, Deputy
Director of Nursing and the Mission Director, take a leadership
role in managing the Hopsital's business plan, legal
obligations and patient care.
The core leadership team is also supported by key Executive
members comprising: Finance Manager, Business Analyst / Business
Development Manager, HR Manager, and our Quality Manager.
Together, this group ensure the hospital provides the best
quality care to our patients.
Lisa Norman
Chief Executive
Officer / Director of Nursing
Lisa Norman joined St John of God
Hospital Berwick as Chief Executive Officer in
January 2010.
She has extensive experience in healthcare
settings and a strong track record in driving forward hospital
growth. Her previous role as Chief Executive Officer of
St John of God Nepean Rehabilitation saw her double the number of
patients in 3.5 years and at the same time improve patient and
staff satisfaction.
Lisa brings with her a wide and varied
background. She has over seven years experience at Executive
Management level in private health care and more than eleven years
experience in Nurse Management. Lisa will continue the
hospital's growth path to expand the quality services we
provide.
Prior to joining St John of God Health Care in
2006, Lisa was Director of Clinical Services at Beleura Private
Hospital in Mornington with Ramsay Healthcare. Lisa also held
senior positions at The Valley Private Hospital in
Mulgrave.
Lisa graduated in 1990 as a Registered Nurse
and quickly developed an interest in Emergency and Trauma Nursing.
After completing further study in this area she worked in several
Emergency Departments and became a Clinical Nurse Specialist in
Emergency Nursing prior to commencing in Healthcare
Management. Lisa is currently studying a Graduate Certificate
in Catholic Leadership and Identity at Australian Catholic
University.
Ruth Sharkie
Director of Mission
Ruth Sharkie was appointed Director of Mission
in 2009. This is a unique position within the Hospital as the role
ensures our values of Hospitality, Compassion, Respect,
Justice, and Excellence are upheld by the Hospital in our
patient care. The role also establishes a well coordinated and
mutual relationship between the Hospital and key community
services. These include: local council, faith groups, religious
groups, not-for-profit groups, and essential services such as aged
care etc. This ensures that we can respond to your care needs in a
holistic way.
Ruth’s most recent roles include a previous
Mission Directorship at Calvary Health Care Bethlehem in South
Caulfield, the Co-ordinator of Pastoral Care and Bereavement
Services, Bereavement Counsellor and Pastoral Counsellor in the
Community Palliative Care Service.
Ruth also comes from a background in education
and has many years experience in the parish setting in particular
as a family counsellor and Pastoral Associate at St. Peter’s Parish
in East Bentleigh.
