Support groups
Prostate Cancer Support Group
The Prostate Cancer Support Group meets in the
Atrium Meeting Room at St John of God Hospital Bendigo every month.
Partners are welcome and there is normally a guest speaker. Bendigo
has the biggest support group in the state due, members say, to the
benefits the meeting provides.
The group meets on the last Thursday of the
month, alternating between 3.30pm and 6pm. Refreshments
provided.
- 3.30pm - January, March, May, July,
September
- 6.00pm - February, April, June, August,
October
- November - Christmas function
- December - no meeting

Diabetes Support Group
This is available to clients of the St John of
God Diabetes Service, including inpatients. It is held on the
last Thursday of the month 10am-12 noon. Refreshments
provided.

HeartBeat Bendigo
HeartBeat meets bi-monthly.

Central Victorian Stroke Support Group

Founded in 1997 by three stroke survivors, this is a self-help
group for stroke survivors, carers, family members and friends.
It provides:
- regular get-togethers for social connectedness with others,
sharing common experiences
- a way of nurturing members back into mainstream community
activities
- information about appropriate services relevant to stroke
recovery
- a way to promote stroke awareness and stroke
prevention
The support group meets on the last Saturday of every month
excluding December and Public Holiday weekends.
Coeliac Support Group, Bendigo Branch
For those with diagnosed gluten / wheat
intolerance.
This group holds a display and gluten-free morning tea in
the hospital's Atrium during Coeliac Awareness Week in March.
