Café

The café is located on the ground floor and offers a variety of fresh foods and barista coffee service.

Call bell

Our caregivers are dedicated to providing you with quality care. They are always close by and can be called by using the ‘call button’ located in the bedside handset.

Chapel

The Hospital has a Chapel of the Visitation located in the hospital foyer.

Garden areas

Depending on your medical condition and doctor’s advice, you are welcome to relax and enjoy some reflection time in one of our peaceful gardens. The Glavin Garden is located in the grounds of Rotary House. This area also houses Our Lady’s Grotto along with a water feature. The Tranquility Garden in memory of Ballarat Surgeon Mr Jim Pryor, is located in the grounds of the Radiotherapy Centre off Drummond Street. Please inform your nurse of your whereabouts.

Gifts

Gifts n Things is operated by the hospital Auxiliary and offers a wide variety of local and imported merchandise, including gifts and cards for all occasions. It is open Monday to Friday, 9.30am to *7.30pm and Saturday 1pm to 5.30pm.  *Subject to volunteer availability.

Housekeeping

Every day a friendly Hotel services caregiver will clean your room.

Interpreter service

Available on request.

Library service

Our Volunteers offer a regular mobile library service providing magazines, books etc to patients.

Mail

Mail and facsimiles are delivered daily. An email service for patients is also co-ordinated from the Patient Liaison Officer’s office in Patient Services. It allows external communications correspondence to be directed and delivered to patients during their stay. Patient email address is reception.ballarat@sjog.org.au.

Meals

Our Hotel Services department takes pride in planning and delivering tasty and nutritious meals to you. A selection of fine food is available from the daily menu. We cater for individual dietary requirements based on your doctor's request, religious beliefs or your personal choice. Should you have special diet needs, our chefs are very happy to prepare them for you. Please let us know before your admission. A visit from the dietitian can be arranged by your nurse.

Newspapers

Newspapers are on sale from our cafe. A paper person will call on each patient room every morning between 7.30am and 8.30am.

Parking

On-site visitor parking is available, fees apply.

Pastoral Services

Located in the chapel on the ground floor adjacent to the hospital reception, our pastoral services are provided by professionally qualified pastoral practitioners and accredited chaplains who can attend to your pastoral, emotional and spiritual needs.

Pharmacy

pharmacy service is provided from 8.30am to 5.15pm Monday to Friday and on Saturday mornings.

Radio

A selection of AM and FM radio channels are available on the television provided at each bed.

Rotary House accommodation for relatives

Rotary House is affordable short-term accommodation on the hospital grounds for a close friend or relatives.

Smoking

Our hospital is a smoke free campus. Smoking is not permitted in the hospital or on hospital grounds. For health and legal reasons we request that patients and visitors cooperate with this policy.

Telephone

Telephones are located at each bedside. Local calls are free. Phone cards can be purchased from front reception or the mobile kiosk trolley for mobile and STD calls.

Television

Flat screen televisions are provided at each bed and broadcast a range of free to air television and radio channels.

Ward lounges

Comfortable lounge areas and gardens are available throughout the hospital where patients and visitors may meet to talk, or simply admire the view.

Your caregivers

Our hospital is well staffed by a friendly, multidisciplinary team of caregivers who are all valuable partners in your health.

Our nurses offer a range of specialist nursing skills and support on various health education issues, and are always available to discuss any concerns with you and your family.

Our allied health team consisting of occupational and speech therapists, physiotherapists, dietician, wound and stomal therapist, continence nurse, diabetes educator and social worker are also on hand to assist you.
