St John of God Health Care is committed to interacting with universities and providing training to under and postgraduate students.

St John of God Hospital Ballarat is set to enter a new era with the appointment of Dr Andrew Dean as Associate Professor of Australia's Notre Dame University's Rural Clinical School.

Associate Professor Dean, who is our Director of Emergency Medicine, will head up the university's Rural Clinical School which will be based at St John of God Hospital Ballarat.

The first intake will arrive in 2011 when a total of 32 students, eight per term, will join the medical team.

Six of the students will be based in the emergency department while the other two will be based with Ballarat surgeons who will offer them mentoring through their rooms and operating lists.
