Meet our executive team
Michael Krieg
Chief Executive Officer
Michael Krieg is an experienced hospital professional with over
25 years experience, the last 12 months as a CEO of both public and
private hospitals. Michael has qualifications in nursing and
business, and has worked in many states of Australia both in rural
and metropolitan centres. Michael is currently the Chief
Executive of St John of God Ballarat Hospital and was previously
CEO of Calvary Health Care in Tasmania.
Donna Walter
Director of Nursing
Donna Walter was appointed Director of Nursing
in August 2008 and undertook the role of Acting Chief Executive
Officer in 2011. Prior to this Donna was the Assistant Director of
Nursing Day Co-ordinator /Human Resources in Ballarat and had
various roles as After Hours Co-ordinator and Clinical Nurse
specialist in 2005. Donna has completed a Graduate
Certificate in Business Management, Australian Catholic University
Ballarat. She is a member of the Board of Committee for
Ballarat and the Ballarat Cancer Research Centre.
Maureen Waddington
Director of Mission
Maureen Waddington was appointed Director of
Mission in November 2002. Maureen came to Ballarat after a career
in Administration in Melbourne. Prior to her appointment as
Director of Mission, Maureen was Hotel Services Manager for St John
of God Ballarat. Maureen completed a Diploma in Management in 2001,
an MBA in 2005 and a Graduate Diploma in Theology, 2009 and
continues to study for her Masters of Divinity. Maureen is also a
Board member of Centacare Ballarat and the Caroline Chisholm Centre
for Health Ethics Melboure.
Tony Godfrey
Director of Finance & Corporate Services
Tony Godfrey was appointed Director of Finance
in February 2005. He has over 25 years experience in accounting,
finance and management, working in chartered accountancy, private
practice, education and extensively in the not for profit sector.
Tony is CPA qualified, and holds a Bachelor of Business, and a
Masters of Business Management.
Dr Ed Davis
Director of Medical Services
Ed joined St John of God Ballarat in July
2009, having been a Medical Administrator since July 1981. He
continues working half-time as DMS of Colac Area Health. His
initial experience was at the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne
for two years before commencing as Director of Medical
Services of Ballarat Base Hospital in 1983. Ed left BBH in 1996 and
began working part-time with the University of Melbourne, with
part-time appointments at Hamilton Base Hospital, The Canberra
Hospital and Wangaratta Base Hospital for two years and
many (about 12) District Hospitals in rural Victoria, again as
Director of Medical Services. More recently Ed worked as Deputy
Director Medical Services for over four years at Bendigo
Health Care Group. A life time of military service, included 12
years in the RAAF, both reserve and regular service, followed by 19
years in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps (reserve), his
final posting being as Colonel, DMS Southern Region (Victoria).
Diane Sartori
Projects Manager
Diane Sartori was appointed Projects Manager
at St John of God Hospital Ballarat in 2011. Prior to this Diane
has held a number of project and quality management positions with
St John of God Health Care, more recently working as Facilities
Development Director with Midland Project Team for Group Services,
Director of Redevelopment at St John of God Hospital Geelong and as
Director of Redevelopment at St John of God Hospital Ballarat from
2005 until the opening of the new $65M facilities in 2009.
Diane has completed her Masters of Business Administration and
holds a Bachelor of Science and Graduate Diploma in Nutrition and
Dietetics having commenced her health care career as a dietitian
working in both the public and private sector.
