A focus on female Caregivers

We are celebrating our female caregivers this week in the lead up to International Women’s Day. We sat down with Melissa Corbett to chat about her role as a Midwife at St John of God Bendigo Hospital.

What is your role at St John of God Bendigo Hospital: I’m an Associate Nurse Manager on the maternity ward, as well as a Hypnobirthing Australia practitioner.

How long have you been a caregiver at St John of God Bendigo Hospital: 6 years

What do you enjoy about your role: I think pregnancy and birth is the most incredible event in a women’s life. I love to care for and educate women during this time. I feel incredibly privileged to share this time with so many families.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work: I love teaching my Hypnobirthing Australia classes which I do both at the hospital and out in the community. I think it’s a woman’s right to be educated and empowered about labour and birth.  I take great pride in educating women and their partners so they can really embrace the birthing experience.

International Women’s Day is an important day in our workplace to recognise the female caregivers at St John of God Bendigo Hospital. I work alongside many great women, who offer support, encouragement and guidance.
