Subiaco and Murdoch nurses in the running for awards

St John of God Health Care nurses are among
the best in WA, with two being confirmed as contenders in the
prestigious 2011 WA Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards.
Kara Clozza of St John of God Hospital Subiaco
is a finalist in the Metropolitan Acute Care Registered Nurse
category while Kizzi Neale of St John of God Hospital Murdoch is a
finalist in the Graduate of the Year category.
The State's Health Minister, Kim Hames, said
this year’s awards had attracted a record number of nominations,
with over 230 nurses and midwives nominated across 16
categories.
St John of God Health Care’s Group Director
Nursing, Kate Birrell, said the nurses were nominated for their all
round excellence, dedication and focus on patient-centred care.
“This great news confirms that our nurses
continue to play a key role in maintaining excellent standards of
patient care at St John of God hospitals and comes on the back of
our recent success in a series of independent patient and doctor
satisfaction surveys.”
The surveys, conducted by the Press Ganey
survey group, ranked the WA-based not for profit organisation in
the top quartile of all participating hospitals, public and
private, nationally,
Winners of the 2011 WA Nursing and Midwifery
Awards will be announced at a gala dinner on Saturday, September
17.
