Community work recognised in BRW Awards
St John of God Health Care was a finalist at
the Business Review Weekly (BRW) ANZ Private Business Awards 2010
in the Excellence in Community Practices category.
Group Chief Executive Officer of St John of
God Health Care, Dr Michael Stanford, and Group Director
Social Outreach and Advocacy, Anne
Russell-Brown, attended the awards ceremony at Melbourne’s
Grand Hyatt Hotel on Wednesday 25th August.
St John of God Health Care, a leading health
care provider primarily known for its private hospitals and
pathology services throughout Australia, New Zealand and the Asia
Pacific region, were among a strong field of candidates.
Dr Stanford said he was thrilled that the
organisation’s community work, through its Social Outreach and Advocacy services, had
been recognised.
“We are extremely proud of the work that our
dedicated team of caregivers have achieved in this area, which
involves many varied services reaching out to people experiencing
disadvantage,” Dr Stanford said.
The organisation dedicates 2% of its eligible
revenue to operating sustainable SOA services and since the
program’s inception in 2002 over $120M has been committed to
helping people in areas of identified need.
St John of God Health Care's Social
Outreach and Advocacy services include community mental health
and alcohol and other drug initiatives in WA, Victoria and NSW;
youth services in WA, Victoria and Christchurch, New Zealand;
disability services in Victoria; and a significant international
health program reaching out to our nearest neighbours.
